Grow Bright Lights Swiss Chard from seed for your garden
Grow Swiss Chard Bright Lights from seed on your vegetable plot for attractive stems in an inviting mixture of colours. Recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society as a great crop for home-growing this is the perfect addition to your plot. Bright Lights are productive all year roundNot only are they visually appealing, the different colours attract different pollinating insects which pollinate nearby flowers of strawberries, tomatoes and other fruiting crops.
Harvest the stems as baby leaves to bring colour to salads leaving a number of other stems to mature. Cut and prepare these leaves separately for use in stir-fries.
Pretty enough for the flower border too we recommend this variety for allotments or indeed the garden flower border.
Sow Outdoors: April-August thinly, direct into the required harvest position, ½in (1.25cm) deep in rows 12in (30cm) apart. Keep soil moist at all times.
Grow On: If necessary thin seedlings to 6in (15cm) apart.
Harvest: January-December use stems and leaves in stir- fries
