Orange Habanero seeds produce very hot peppers with a unique flavour which makes them ideal for making very spicy sauces. When we say “Hot” we mean between 250,000 and 350,000 SHU’s, which is more than warm enough for most people and with this heat it just scrapes into our Super-Hot section.
This is one of the easiest Habaneros to grow and one of the most prolific varieties. The small wrinkled fruit ripen from green to orange and really pack a punch above their size.
The Orange Habanero plants grow up to 90 cms (3 ft) and are really prolific, providing masses of chillies between 4–6 cm long.
We suggest that you sow Orange Habanero seeds January-March in a propagator about ½ cm deep in a decent, damp compost, and even then germination can be slow, so keep them warm to stop them rotting. They have a very long growing season so it’s important to sow these chillies early.
When your seeds have germinated keep the seedlings in a light position but shade from bright sunlight. When large enough to handle transplant them to larger pots 7cm (3in).
Once the seedlings are large enough to handle and flowers have started to appear, transplant into larger containers or grow bags in your greenhouse or conservatory and once flowers start to appear then we suggest a weekly feed of either tomato food or liquid seaweed
Harvest: July –Oct.
