Tropical Heat chilli pepper seedsTropical Heat chilli seeds

Chilli Pepper 'Tropical Heat' is a hot mix of Caribbean Habenero red and orange seeds, plus seeds of the yellow and red Scotch Bonnets. These very hot fruits ripen from green to red and have a fiery pungency at maturity. Ideal for growing in the greenhouse or on a sunny patio outside - according to seeds merchants. But we take issue with that last statement because growing these plants outside successfully depends entirely on where you live.

Where we are in Derbyshire and north of here growing chillies outside is a no no. Or to qualify that -
Yes we can grow these outside on the patio but here in the Midlands and further north they will only produce a fraction of the fruits that inside grown plants produce. If in doubt don't go to the trouble of cultivating these hot little fruits to have them wither outside due to cold winds - put them in your greenhouse, conservatory or on a sunny windowsill instead.

Sow: March to early April
Harvest: August to October
Flavour Guide: Fiery to atomic
Sowing Instructions: Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of a good, free draining compost and cover with a fine sprinkling if compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator at 18-20C (64-68F) until germination, which usually takes 7-14 days. Make sure they have plenty of light, as this helps germination.
