Kalibos red cabbageKalibos cabbage seeds originally came from Eastern Europe and they produce a delicious red cabbage that has a high sugar content, making it the perfect variety for shredding raw into salads for superb sweetness, crunch and colour.

It has a firm, solid heart and few wasted outer leaves. Colour fades when cooked. For late summer and autumn cutting.

Red cabbage is the traditional cabbage for pickling, but is perfect as a colourful and flavoursome winter vegetable or shredded finely and added to salads. They have good holding ability or can be stored for a few months

Sow Indoors: February-March thinly ½in (1cm) deep in clean trays or modules of firm pre watered compost. Keep soil moist at all times.

Sow Outdoors: March-May, thinly ½in (1cm) deep in a seed bed. Keep soil moist at all times. Protect from frost.

Thin Out: 4in (10cm) apart.

Plant Out: May-June and March into the required harvest position 18in (45cm) apart with 18in (45cm) between each row when plants have 3-4 true leaves.

Harvest: August-October.

Protect from Cabbage White Butterfly with netting.
