There are 8 chilli pepper Chenzo seeds per packet when you purchase them, and they will hopefully turn into 8 good, strong plants at up to 55 cm tall which will give you joy as soon as they begin to fruit.

These are stunningly beautiful plants which will cause comments from visitors to your conservatory or greenhouse. Windowsills are also a perfect place for them too.

Now we normally warn against growing chillies outside, especially in the Midlands where we are, and of course further north. They will grow in our part of the world but the crop will be far, far less than an inside grown plant.

However, the chilli pepper Chenzo, unmost other chili pepper plants, has a good resistance to cool temperatures and will crop heavily even in less-than-ideal summers.

If you manage to raise 6 plants out of 8 seeds why not grow 3 outside and 3 inside?

When your plants begin to fruit they will be a beautiful shiny black to start with and around 7-8 cm (3 inches) in length. When mature these fruits turn bright red with dark green foliage.

Chili Chenzo is suitable for a variety of dishes and can be used fresh or dried.
