Cayennetta F1 hybrid chilli pepper seeds produce vigorous, heavy-cropping plants with lots of fruit without being too pungent but which are full of flavour. The plants themselves are decorative too with their deep green leaves and red fruit.
Sow your seeds indoors, and we stress that for best results you grow these plants indoors too, unless you are lucky enough to live somewhere with year round warmth.
I grow my chilli seeds in a propagator and only about 5 or 6 ml deep in damp compost. Chilli seeds are rather weak so they need to be just covered with damp compo as they do not have the strength to fight their way to the light if planted deeply, and that applies to all chilli seeds.
Place in a warm environment 18-25°C (65-75°F). As the seedlings develop grow on in cooler, light conditions but avoid direct (bright) sunlight.
Planting on: When seedlings have developed three or four leaves transplant them to 10-12cm (4-6in) pots which have been filled with seed compost. Grow on at 15°C (60°F).
When the first flowers start to open, transfer them to even larger pots in the greenhouse or conservatory bed with plants at least 30cm (12in) apart. Provide supports for the growing stems. At this stage water and feed with a high-potash feed to enhance flowering and fruiting.
